Grizzly Volleyball camps set for July

Officials with the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Volleyball team will offer several camps this summer for those interested in learning how to play volleyball, as well as those who want to hone their skills.

The camps will be offered in July at the West Plains Civic Center. They will be directed by Paty Figueiredo, head coach of the Grizzly Volleyball team.

Little Grizzlies Camp

The Little Grizzlies Camp, set for July 12 and 17, is for youngsters entering grades first through eighth. It will focus on hand, eye and foot coordination and introduce participants to the skills of the game. Campers will be divided into stations to work on different skills and coordination movements in an upbeat environment, Figueiredo said.

"Campers will have lots of fun learning and sharing great memories with their coaches and other campers," she said.

Sessions are divided based on age. First through fifth grade campers will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both days, with check-in at 8:30 a.m. Sixth through eighth grade campers will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. both days, with check in at 1 p.m.

Campers can choose to attend their respective age sessions on both dates or just one of the dates. The cost for those choosing to attend their age session on just one of the two dates offered is $80. The cost to attend sessions on both dates is $140. Those who register by June 26 can pay discounted rates of $70 and $130, respectively. All campers also will receive a T-shirt.

The camp is open to boys and girls, but space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
