Bio

Robson Costa begins his first season as assistant coach of the Grizzly Volleyball program. He brings with him 20 years of experience coaching and training volleyball players at the local, national and professional level in the United States and internationally.

He has coached women’s and men’s indoor and beach volleyball teams, including national teams in his native country of Brazil and in Israel, helping them pick up numerous awards and accolades along the way, including championships and gold medals in highly competitive events.

He also has coached with Grizzly Volleyball Head Coach Paty Figueiredo at Montana State University Northern in Havre and at Montverde Academy in Florida. Their Montverde Academy teams earned district and league championships.

Robson has overseen strength and conditioning programs and created periodization programs for nearly every team he has worked with, including the Grizzlies, in an effort to help the players develop into the best versions of themselves, on and off the court.

He received a bachelor’s degree in physical education from the UniverCidade, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2004.

Robson said the history of Grizzly Volleyball inspires him to build on the foundation created by previous coaches and players.

“People worked hard and put a lot of love, studying and effort into this program to build a solid foundation and make it a winning program. This inspires me as we move forward. I will prioritize quality over quantity and respect the players’ limits while encouraging them to always believe that anything is possible. We can accomplish any goals we set for our ourselves if we apply ourselves to doing our best every day.”
