Grizzly Basketball fills 2023-2024 roster with final 2 signings

The roster for the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Basketball team's upcoming season is now complete.

Jared Phay, head coach of the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Basketball team, announced his final two signings for the 2023-2024 season.

They are Trayon Grant-Foster, a 6-foot, 6-inch "do-it-all" player from Kansas City, Kansas, and DeAngelo Parker, a 6-foot, 7-inch post player from Jordan Christian Prep in Auburndale, Florida.

More about Trayon Grant-Foster

Grant-Foster comes to the Grizzlies following a redshirt season at 2023 NJCAA Division I Men's National Basketball Tournament semifinalist Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. Prior to his time at Indian Hills, Grant-Foster played a post-graduate year at Link Year Prep.

Grant-Foster was a standout at Leavenworth High School, averaging 15.2 points, six rebounds and three assists per game while twice being named first team all-conference.

"Trayon has been at some great programs and played with and against some very high-level players," Phay said. "He will really help us. He is very talented and can play any position on the floor, and he will allow us to play fast."

Grant-Foster's older brother, Tyon, played at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. He will finish his collegiate career this season at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.

More about DeAngelo Parker

Parker averaged 15.3 points and 12.2 rebounds per game this past season and helped Jordan Christian post a 30-7 record while winning the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) National Championship.

He was named to the NACA All-Tournament Team and was a first team NACA All-American.

Originally from Freeport, Bahamas, Parker starred at Sunland Lutheran before transferring to Jordan Christian for his senior year.

Phay is excited to coach Parker, saying "DeAngelo is a big, strong athletic post player who plays with high energy. He plays very hard and is a good defender who can guard all five positions."

Returning Grizzlies

In addition to these two signings, Phay said four current Grizzlies signed national letters of intent to return to the team this fall. They include:

  • Gaige Pitts, a 6-foot guard from Thayer
  • Carlos Paul III, a 6-foot, 5-inch forward from Southfield, Michigan
  • Kyle Germany, a 6-foot, 2-inch guard from Detroit, Michigan
  • Kendon Peebles, a 6-foot, 5-inch guard from Hampton, Virginia
