Cecilia Westfall signs with Missouri Southern

Cecilia Westfall, a member of the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Volleyball team, will continue her collegiate career at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

Westfall recently signed a national letter of intent to play for the Lions, an NCAA Division II program, beginning this fall. She signed the documents during a ceremony at MSU-WP's Kellett Hall in front of her teammates.

Grizzly Volleyball Head Coach Paula Wiedemann is thrilled that Westfall found a great program where she can utilize her skills.

"I was excited when Ceci became a part of our program, and I know Missouri Southern is excited to have her coming in this fall," Wiedemann said. "I love the fact that this place matters to her and she's taking that with her.

"She has an instinct for the game. She is smart in her shots and can be difficult to read for a defender," the coach added. "Having her on the pin for us this year was a huge asset in our ability to split the block and spread out our offense. She made a difference for us in a lot of situations."

Westfall, a sophomore right side attacker from Mountain Grove, recorded 273 kills this past season for 2.07 kills per set. Her .279 attacking percentage was third best on the team. She also recorded 327.5 points earned.

"Ceci was on Missouri Southern's radar as a high school player, and they continued to talk to her during her time with us," Wiedemann said. "She has continued to grow as a player and student, and we are super excited for her and this next step.

"Ceci's work this semester will continue to prepare her to step into a leadership position for her new team. Moving forward as a junior for them, she will continue to bring that instinct and help lead their team to a successful season. I'm looking forward to watching what she does for the Lions."
